CLEARFIELD, Pa (WJAC) — According to a press release from the Clearfield County District Attorney's office, DA William Shaw announced Wednesday that the Clearfield County Drug Court is now officially in operation.
The Drug Court is comprised of service providers, probation officers, jail personnel and other representatives who will work together to identify first time drug offenders and divert them to programs and services designed to prevent further drug use and related behavior.
The operation also has a physician and case manager on staff, both of whom were provided through funding from the Clearfield Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission, at no cost to taxpayers.
Shaw said he is "proud that we have been able to get all the major components necessary to operate a Drug Court," and offered many thanks to the organizations and service providers who helped work on this project over the past year.
