Pedigree dog food recently sold at Walmart stores in four states was recalled "due to the potential presence of loose metal pieces in the bag," according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The FDA said Mars Petcare US voluntarily recalled 315 bags of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food. The recall only impacted dog food sold in 44-pound bags sold in Walmart locations in in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas, with the FDA adding no other Pedigree or Mars Petcare products were affected or recalled.
The affected products have a "Best By Date" of March 4, 2025, as well as the Lot Code 410B2TXT02. The FDA said the date and code are listed on the bottom seal of the back of the bag.
"There have been no reports of pet injury or illness regarding the potentially impacted product," according to the FDA. "If you believe you have purchased this product, please stop using it ... Mars Petcare US is working with Walmart in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas to ensure that the affected products are no longer sold and have been removed from inventory."
