Former Pirates manager Jim Leyland named parade grand marshal for DuBois Community Days

DUBOIS,Pa. -- Former Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Jim Leyland has been named the grand marshal for the 27th annual DuBois Community Days Firemen's Parade. The announcement was made by DuBois Community Days coordinator, Jeff Baronick on Connect FM Thursday.

The announcement was made by DuBois Community Days coordinator, Jeff Baronick on Connect FM Thursday.

DuBois Community Days is Friday, June 15, and Saturday, June 16, with Leyland leading the parade that Saturday at 5 p.m.

"The DuBois Community Days committee was excited to bring Leyland into town, not just because of his ties to the Pittsburgh Pirates, but also because of his down-to-earth nature," read a release.

Leyland will be at the American Legion Stage for part of the day June 16, sharing stories, answering questions and giving advice.

Leyland was the manager of the Pirates from 1986 to 1996, led the Miami Marlins to a World Series title in 1997 and was in charge of the Detroit Tigers from 2006 to 2013, winning three Manager of the Year awards during his career.
