Saturday welcomed the 14th year of the Bluegrass Festival at Laurel Hill State Park.

Over 8000 people are expected to traverse through the park this Saturday and Sunday to enjoy the fast tempos and high energy of bluegrass music.

“It’s all about kind of this mountain culture," said Kimberly Peck, the environmental education specialist at the Laurel Hill State Park Complex. "A moment of kind of taking back, enjoying the scenery that’s around us. We have a beautiful mountain view from this hilltop where you can actually see it and the blue grass absolutely fits perfectly."

This free all-ages event features live music with bands coming all the way from North Carolina and West Virginia

All of this is accompanied with Laurel Hill's striking mountain views as well as craft and food vendors and a special re-enactor village.

The event will continue Sunday from 11am to 5pm with more live music as well as a Mountain Laurel 5k at 8:30am.
