Over 700 students are on the floor, and thousands more are packed into the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park for Penn State's 52nd annual THON.
According to student organizers, efforts are put in throughout the year to reach this weekend where people will stand and dance for 46 straight hours. The event officially began Friday at 6 p.m. and will go until 4 p.m. Sunday.
They said the event continues to grow each year, and that showed in last year's fundraising efforts. THON raised over $15 million in 2023 for families fighting childhood cancer.
This year's executive director Will Vincent said there are event all throughout the year looking to give children with cancer memories, raise money, and show the kids there is a whole community in their corner.
Vincent said, "That's a big part of our mission is that emotional support and being sure that they're supported."
